M. Matthew Charles Sanders, (lahir Juli 31,1981) lebih dikenal dengan nama panggung M. Shadows , Bayangan, saat ini adalah vokalis untuk band Metalcore Amerika Avenged Sevenfold.

Pada masa mudanya, Shadows terkenal karena perilaku tidak tertib dan kenakalan.” Ia dikutip mengatakan “Saya berada di antara anak yang baik dan yang buruk anak – aku punya hati yang baik, tapi sikap yang mengerikan.Ia belajar di Huntington Beach High School setelah dikeluarkan dari sekolah menengah di kelas delapan.Sebagai band ini baru mulai keluar, ia adalah karakter yang lebih gelap dari kelompok (sehingga nama “Bayangan”) tapi dia juga ingin memasukkan namanya, Matt, menjadi nama panggungnya.  Matt dikurangi menjadi “M” karena memiliki cincin yang lebih baik bila dikombinasikan dengan nama panggung dan sejak itu ia telah dikenal sebagai M. Shadows.

Awal

Matt digunakan untuk bermain piano sebelum ia mulai bernyanyi dalam band pertamanya. Ketika ia tumbuh dewasa, ia mendengarkan banyak punk rock seperti H2O dan The Misfits dan masuk ke adegan logam ketika ayahnya membelikan Appetite for Destruction by Guns N ‘Roses setelah dia melihat mereka di MTV’ s Headbanger’s Ball .

Dalam tahun-tahun berikutnya, Shadows membentuk sejumlah band dengan irama Avenged Sevenfold gitaris Zacky Vengeance. Zacky sebelumnya anggota sebuah punk kelompok yang disebut ‘MPA. Vokal gayaDalam band’s debut album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, M.
